Né à Londres en 1969, James Choules AKA SheOne commença le graffiti dès son plus jeune age, inspiré par le rock/punk et les noms sur le métro de New York. Il peint et fait du graphisme depuis plus de vingt ans, exposant à Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo, Sydney, Singapour, Berlin et Milan. Sa typographie abstraite est profondément encrée dans l’ère du graffiti new wave du début des années 80, mais sa sténographie stylée et son approche à la peinture uniquement expressive, le maintiennent résolument dans le présent. Son travail fortement personnalisé s’est mélangé à l’univers de la mode (il a travaillé récemment avec les marques Addict, Kswiss et sa propre marque RideAlone) et à la collaboration audio, faisant de lui un des tous meilleurs artistes culturels selon « Refill Magazine ».

En 1998, il est apparu dans le premier livre du collectif Scrawl, Dirty Graphics and Strange Characters entant qu’élément majeur d’une génération d’artistes qui ont repoussé les limites du graffiti vers de nouvelles directions. SheOne est reconnu internationalement et a prouvé que le graffiti a sa place dans le monde de l’art contemporain.

Born in London in 1969, James Choules AKA SheOne began making graffiti in his teens inspired by rock/punk music and spray names on the New York subway. He has been painting and making graphics for twenty years, exhibiting in Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo, Sydney, Singapore, Berlin and Milan. His own brand of abstract typography is rooted deep in the new wave graffiti era of the early eighties but his stylised shorthand and uniquely expressive approach to paintings keep him firmly in the present. His highly personalised work has crossed over into fashion (most recently working with Addict, Kswiss and his own brand RideAlone) product and audio collaboration, causing « Refill Magazine » to refer to him as a leading cultural artist.

In 1998 he appeared in the the first Scrawl Collective book Dirty Graphics and Strange Characters as part of a generation of artists who were taking graffiti to new levels and in new directions. SheOne has received international recognition and proved that graffiti has a place in the contemporary art world.

Que ce soit à la bombe, à l’acrylique ou au bon vieux Posca, Galo transforme son espace. Il est de l’art en mouvement et l’univers de ses créatures en perpétuel changement, encrant sa propre réflexion sur les émotions de l’affaiblissement civil.

Pendant plus d’une décennie, l’artiste italien a exploré la planète, faisant des expositions de rue, performances, ateliers et shows, tout en développant les chapitres de son autobiographie sur les murs des rues où il séjourne et flâne. Les créatures de Galo sont tristes, fâchées, curieuses et confuses. Elles sont familières, dévastées et incapables d’articuler le chaos des communications qui grouillent autour d’elles. Ce qui avait commencé comme un projet unique à l’origine, s’est maintenant multiplié à l’infini…

Galo is art in action and the universe of his creatures is ever evolving, inking its own reflection on the emotions of civil decay.

For over a decade the Italian born artist has been keeping it real, exploring the planet, doing street shows, performances, workshops and exhibitions, while developing the chapters of his autobiography on the walls of the streets where he lives and lounges. Galo’s creatures are sad, angry, curious and confused. They are familiar, devastated and unable to articulate the chaos of communications swarming around them. Pour sa prochaine exposition, le Lazy Dog invite l’artiste britannique, Russell Maurice AKA The Gasface. On pourra y apprécier un série d’oeuvres nouvelles composée de collages photos, dessins et sérigraphies, installations de lumières, sculptures et une immense peinture murale. Adoptant au premier abord un language visuel espiègle, drôle et optimiste, enraciné dans la nature et la culture populaire, son travail dénonce les menaces du monde moderne sur notre environement naturel.

Le vernissage aura lieu le 14 juin à partir de 19:00 et vous pourrez voir l’exposition jusqu’au 28 juillet.

Julien Rivoire est un graphiste freelance français, officiant sous le nom de Bastardgraphics, et également membre des collectifs Play et Krafty. Sa carrière débute en 2004 et il se fait la main à l’époque en participant à des concours d’illustrations (affiches ou tshirts) et se faisant remarquer notamment par son tshirt « Are Trees Electronic ? » pour Threadless et son affiche pour le concours !Resist! intitulée « Sister Resist ».

S’en suit un parcours heureux au cours duquel il va tester de nouvelles techniques et élargir sa palette de compétences toujours dans un esprit de mélange de styles. Ses travaux prennent donc les couleurs de ses influences diverses : l’électronique, le rap et le rock y font la fête ensemble. Fluo 80s et Op’art y courent main dans la main, sourire aux lèvres. Minimalisme, Science-fiction et souvenirs d’enfance vivent tous dans le même appartement, entre bisous et bastons. Une simple histoire d’amour en somme. Il a depuis collaboré avec d’autres marques de tshirts (Sixpack, Karmaloop…), pour des magazines (Ware, Technikart, Focus…), et participé à plusieurs expositions collectives ou exclusives en France (Bopano, Evergreen, SendYourStyle…) et en Europe (Murone, My Brand…).

Il se dit aujourd’hui de plus en plus attiré par des réalisations plus manuelles, de l’installation au dessin en passant par la peinture, mais toujours dans l’optique de retravailler tout ça par ordinateur. Julien vient également de monter le collectif vidéo Play avec ses amis et collaborateurs Pierre Vanni, Ease, Melkaone, Elroy et Le Neopen, que vous pourrez notamment retrouver pour plusieurs dates dès la fin du mois de Juin à Carthage, Lyon et Toulouse.

Julien Rivoire AKA Bastardgraphics is a freelance graphic designer and a member of the Play and Krafty collectives. His career started in 2004 practicing and participating at that time in contests of illustrations (posters or tshirts) and get noticed with his « Are Trees Electronic? » tshirt for Threadless and his poster for the contest Resist! entitled « Sister Resist ».

Since then, he has been happy testing new techniques and widen his pallet of competences in a spirit of mixture of styles. His work thus takes the colors of his various influences: electro, rap and rock n’ roll all mixed for a crazy sauce. 80’s fluo and Op’art are running hand in hand smiling. Minimalism, SF and childhood memories all live in the same appartment, between kisses and fights. A simple love story. He has collaborated with other tshirt brands (Sixpack, Karmaloop…), worked for magazines (Ware, Technikart, Focus…) and took part in several collective or solo expositions in France (Bopano, Evergreen, SendYourStyle…) and in Europe (Murone, My Brand…).

Today, he admits being more and more attracted to handmade work, from installations to drawing and painting, but always with the idea to work over all that by computer. Julien has also just founded the « Play » video collective with his friends and collaborators Pierre Vanni, Ease, Melkaone, Elroy and Le Neopen. You’ll be able to see the collective from the end of June in Carthage, Lyon and Toulouse.
